Jim and Paul made it home safely yesterday (Tuesday). Our poor boat, and the guys I think, will be longing for the sun!
Here are some more pics from the B and B. Hank is the elderly dog who is so much like our Dixie was, both in looks and temperament. SHE and her tiny buddy Yick showed up here together some years ago and were very lucky to have found a loving home where they can live out their golden years. I will try to get a picture of Yick soon.
Above: My lovely high-ceilinged room for the week…the Marjory Stoneman Douglas Room. I’ve been reading her bio. She was a writer in Miami and became an advocate for the creation of the Everglades National Park. Each room is named for an Author and there is a supply of their writings in the room.
There is also a well-stocked library upstairs where guests may lounge around but my favourite place to take a book to is the gazebo on the little island surrounded by the koi pond. Little green herons fish for minnows here, squirrels scamper about and the tiny geckos hang around, some showing off a red flap of skin under their throats. My view from the Stoneman Douglas Room is of this pond. Lovely.
The Jane Austen room above.
The Hawthorne Suite above is a two bedroom suite which we got to use the night before the guys left for home. Thanks Cheri!
What a great adventure you all had and glad you got home safely. Congrats lady and gentlemen. Thanks for sharing your trip…. it was fun to check in and follow your progress.
